Welcome to the Women & Work Sector Pathways Initiative

The purpose of the Women and Work project is to promote career progression and new career pathways to 600 women in industries in the environmental and land-based sector, throughout England, particularly in supervisory, management and specialist skill positions.

The project aims to benefit employed women who wish to work or progress in non-traditional occupational areas. Women may be working in full-time or part-time positions to be eligible for funded training.

It is widely recognised that women are significantly under-represented within many industries in the environmental and land-based sector, including Agriculture (excluding Farm Secretaries), Fencing, Game & Wildlife Management, Land-based Engineering, Horticulture, Landscape, Trees & Timber and Environmental Conservation.

The Women and Work Sector Pathways Initiative aims to raise recruitment levels in sectors where women are under-represented; increasing earning potential and aiding career progression. The initiative is in response to recommendations by the Women and Work Commission’s report ‘Shaping a Fairer Future’ and receives government funding, matched by employer contributions.
